How I Started

keithb1

I was born in the 70’s and went to my local comp school in Essex

Most of my friends lived in the same road to my brother and I
We used the school that we both attended as our play ground.
Firstly bikes
we made a game using the lines on the tennis court and seeing how many we could wheelie.
By the end we could wheelie the whole playground.
Then my father who flew model aircraft introduced us (my brother and I) to model radio controlled cars and we were hooked.

Then on to Karting with 100cc sprint chassis.

KB Racing formed back in 1999 as a Pro Kart Endurance Team. We competed in a summer endurance series, mainly to cut the costs and frustrations of 2-stroke racing whilst increasing what we enjoy most: getting out onto the circuit. If you would like more information please checkout www.kb-racing.co.uk

Then on to cars

Starting in 2003 I moved up from Karting to the Seloc BMW Champs.

During 2005 I Teamed up with Long time Friend Marc Part owner of White House Service Station. Without Marc and his high level of perfection and expertise developed the Fiesta we are now racing.

We the Team returned for the third season running a Saxo VTR

Competing as Team Alpha ran again in the 750 Motor Club Stock Hatch

Then in 2008 I became a father to my first daughter Elizabeth (Bobo) so i stopped racing and focused on running my step son Harry W (the first Twig)

Harry and i competed in 2 seasons of the Kent Cup Honda Cadet Championship

Then it was my youngest daughter Aimee (#42thetwig) turn

KB-Racing are now testing with the new Bambino Team

We are please that Aimee Barker has followed her father into karting and thanks to her grandad she is well on the way to her first win.

Aimee has been testing in Bambino class at Buckmore Park

Aimee came third in one round of the Bambino Cup just before taking and passing her Arks test

She is now a fully licensed racing driver and is testing to dated with her Honda Cadet Kart

Running a team

After my racing career i started to focus on my children firstly with my son Harry at aged 7 starting to hone his skills with a cadet kart at the famous tilbury circuit that i had cut my teeth on many years before. Harry passed his ARKs test at buckmore park and then we started racing in the Kent Cup (based at Bayford medows and then every other round at Buckmore Park) he and I had great fun preping and racing his Project One kart with a B final qualification as our best result.when harry reached 12 we looked for a different formula to race in and as a natural progression we went in to Mini Max with a new chassis and Rotax engine this was not really the right time so we stopped racing and harry focused on his school work. Now fast forward to 18 months ago and my daughter Aimee , she has and did show an interest in racing when her brother was competing buy was only 2 years old and a tot just before her 5 th birthday i got an off road buggy and started letting her sit in it and then in turn pushing her around my yard with a broom. I could see that she had an idea very early on how to stear and so with a few more weeks passing we went off to Buckmore Park and she and her older sister had a go on the electric karts

Now my daughter is racing i want to push her through cadets and hopfully be one of the growing females in motorsport. she has shown lots of potental and has the bug now to win after being 3rd in the last round.
